WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING September 20, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin The Officers present were President Jill Martin 1st Vice-Pres Denise Sarnie 2nd Vice-Pres Julia Salafia

1st VICE PRESIDENT-PROGRAMS: Many good programs planned for this year Oct meeting- open to the public for a small fee Kevin Gardner, stone mason and author of Granite Kiss is an excellent speaker 2ND VICE PRESIDENT- YEARBOOK + WEBSITE: Some members still need to pay their dues so that they can be included in the Yearbook and so it can be published for the October meeting MEMBERSHIP: some members still need to complete their membership for this year TREASURER: Financial Statements posted SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the WGC website + on the bulletin board PRESIDENT: -Committee Sign Ups - every member should sign up for 3 committees/events - there are opening for some Committee heads - expect to hear from each committee each month, even if it’s to report "no updates" -NHFGC Semi-Annual Meeting – Sept 2007 - Ellen Davis won the Grand Prize-a rain barrel + the centerpiece - Jill Martin won a raffle prize- a beautiful book - we are responsible for the centerpieces for next years semi-annual meeting -State Project "Plant Native for Birds and Butterflies" – to be completed September 2008- need a committee for this project - research a bird + a butterfly, create a garden with native plants that will attract them - suggestion: include the Jr Garden Club -Smokey the Bear + Woodsey the Owl Poster Contest- for the Jr Garden Club - need adult mentors -Innisbrook Gift Wrap Fund raiser-Linda German will do the order - last day to order is the October meeting -to be shipped to Jill’s and delivered at the November meeting
SPECIAL EVENTS UPDATE: TIFFANY GARDEN TOUR - Linda German - fundraiser for the Sunshine Soup Kitchen - raised $1,600 which translates into about $10k worth of food at the food bank WGC JUDGED GARDENS in HADLEIGH WOODS CONTEST – Linda German - Jill Martin, Cookie Santerre, and Shirlee Dallas - correction: Shirlee has an accounting and botany degree, not a psychology degree DESIGNING GARDENS – Margaret Crisler - WGC Master gardeners designed the garden for the Windham Co-op last summer - now asked to design the garden for the Little Red Schoolhouse - would like donation of perennials this October - parents will do the planting - they are also selling bricks as a fundraiser THIS MONTH’S THEME – Welcome Back !!!
