WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING October 15, 2009
I. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS President Bea Heinze called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall The Officers present were President Bea Heinze 1st Vice-Pres Denise Sarnie - Programs 2nd Vice-Pres Julia Salafia - Yearbook + Website Treasurer Jean Manthorne Secretary Rhonda Peckham

III. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS
1st VICE PRESIDENT-PROGRAMS: Denise Sarnie had sign-up sheets for the Nov. 19th Floral Design Craft Meeting. The cost is $40 for the oval design and $35 for the round design. She also had her computer available with pictures of similar designs, to give members an idea of what they would accomplish. Gay Mondello, the guest designer will be lecturing on “The Theory of Design” while members work on their craft.
TREASURER: Financial Statements and budget (to reduce expenses) posted, also Jean mentioned new expense forms are available on the club website.
SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the WGC website + on the bulletin board
PRESIDENT: 1. Margaret Sinclair was absent from the meeting, but is plotting her revenge for the Yankee Swap! 2. Linda German is home from the hospital and sent a very witty note to the club, which was read by Bea. 3. Sign-up sheets to receive the Lilac Letter electronically or by mail were located at the check-in table. The conservation of paper and $2,000 print/mailing costs were the motivating factors. 4. Bea collected Anniversary Party Questionnaires.
IV. MOTIONS MOTION: There was a motion by Bea Heinze to have the WGC be a Platinum sponsor of the NHFGC Flower Show next year. MOVED: Margaret Crisler SECONDED: Jean Manthorne IN FAVOR: All OPPOSED: None CARRIED Passed
V. OPEN TO THE FLOOR STANDING COMMITTEES: CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE – Fall clean up has begun at the Town’s garden sites. Tuesday October 20th at 11am Civic will be at Nesmith library digging in the Butterfly Garden. Helpers should contact Roberta White to sign-up. - CONSERVATION COMMITTEE – Siri Wilbur Kamien has completed 6 Conservation Site Walks, and plans to repeat them. Siri will lead you over different trails at the same sites. Her group grew to 14 walkers. Siri is linking us with the Newcomers group. Walks will still be on Tuesday’s 9:15am to meet and 9:30am to walk, the next walk will be at Foster’s Pond. There was some talk of having a weekend walk for those who work during the week.
Anniversary Party COMMITTEE – Cookie Santerre and Robin Heider will be the new co-chairs of this committee. They will meet on Thursday October 29th at Jerry Parson’s home at 6:45pm.
2010 PLANT SALE COMMITTEE – There is a dig scheduled for Monday October 19th at Jill Martin’s home on Field Road at 9:00am with potting to follow at Shirlee Dallas’s home. Contact Jill or Shirlee if you can help. Also 1 cash box is missing from the May 2009 Plant Sale, if anyone has it please contact Jean Manthorne.
PUBLICITY COMMITTEE – Harvest Fest at Griffin Park on Saturday October 17th, the WGC will be hosting a Pumpkin Art activity from 1-4pm. We will also have a table for Membership drive as we invite the public to learn more about us.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:
NHFGC Flower Show - The show is set for August 19-21, 2010 at the NH Audubon Center in Concord, NH. The theme is “This Place is a Zoo”. The club needs to participate, we need to contribute a Committee Chairperson, a Committee Worker, a Design Entry and a Horticulture Entry, plus loan staging materials. Information and sign-up sheets were available on the side table.
Community Service Announcements – See Ruth Bellizzi if you want to support the Windham Woman’s Club fundraiser. See Siri Wilbur Kamien if you want to support the Pumpkin Run to benefit cancer patient Sofie McPherson. Shirlee Dallas donated a Scarecrow to the Manchester Animal Shelter silent auction. It fetched $75.00 for the cause. Thank-you for representing WGC in this worthwhile community project.
Fund Raising – Please mail any remaining Innisbrook Gift Wrap orders to Jill Martin by the end of the month.
VI. BREAK and REFRESHMENTS - HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE THIS MONTH’S THEME – Pam Friend created the gorgeous Halloween inspired flower arrangement that was the focal point of the table and Cheryl Cravino brought the festive Autumn decorations for the Membership table.
