WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

November 20, 2008

 

I.      WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin

The Officers present were

               President          Jill Martin

               1st  Vice-Pres     Denise Sarnie - Programs

               2nd Vice-Pres     Julia Salafia - Yearbook + Website                                

Treasurer           Jean Manthorne

               Secretary          Su Bennett

The Officer excused was Rhonda Peckham - Membership

There were no new members or guest s at this meeting.

 

II.    PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

III.   EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS

1st VICE PRESIDENT-PROGRAMS: No new information

 

2ND VICE PRESIDENT- YEARBOOK + WEBSITE:

The Yearbook is almost completed + will be mailed out to members

    

2ND VICE PRESIDENT - MEMBERSHIP: No new information

 

TREASURER:  Financial Statements posted

 

SECRETARY:  Prior meeting Minutes posted on the WGC website + on the bulletin board

 

PRESIDENT:

   Many thanks to Robin, Ruth, Josie + Shirlee for wintering over plants for the Plant Sale  

 

IV.   OPEN TO THE FLOOR

STANDING COMMITTEES:

-  No reports at this time

 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:

FUND RAISER: GIFT WRAP –

- Grossed approx $778 and netted approx $350 for the club

- Many thanks to Gail Salcito + Carolyn Hanson who helped assemble the orders

- Next year the plan is to mail out the catalogues, so there is more time to look through them

 

FUND RAISER for the SUNSHINE SOUP KITCHEN: FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS

- Idea by Kathy McMahon-

             Create Floral arrangements from donated vases + flowers from various volunteer’s gardens

- Gathered at Kathy’s (Tiffany Gardens B+B) and created 50-60 arrangements

- Sold them for $10-$20 each – only cost was volunteer’s time!

- Made $727 which is equivalent to about $3k in purchasing power at the NH Food Bank

 

V.    BREAK and REFRESHMENTS - HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

THIS MONTH’S THEME –Pine Cone samples of  the holiday craft decorated the table

     Many thanks to Robin for the goodies.

 

VI.   PROGRAM

            Holiday Craft- by Evie Saad + Vicki Spicher

 Decorating 2 large hanging resin Pine Cones
