WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING May 20, 2010
I. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by 1stVice President Denise Sarnie The Officers present were President 1st Vice-Pres Denise Sarnie 2nd Vice-Pres Julia Salafia Treasurer Jean Manthorne Secretary Rhonda Peckham

III. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS
All Board Meeting – held April 22, 2010Windham Endowment Committee was invited. Cheri Maw made a presentation for The Greenhouse Initiative followed by Q & A. We will continue to share some members and information. It was made clear that the entity of The WGC is not on the board for the complicated planning phases of this initiative. Bea Heinze clarifying the position of the Windham Garden Club wrote a letter to the editor of the Windham Independent. Other Executive Highlights: The necessary insurance is in place for the Anniversary Party. The Sign Permits for the plant sale and pot recycle have been obtained. The 2010-11 dues will remain at $12.00, to be collected in May. NHFGC Yard Sale – 100% to benefit Federation. Bea Heinze is collecting donations. NHFGC Annual Meeting, May 26th in Bedford, NH WGC will be represented by Bea Heinze, Denise Sarnie, Siri Wilbur and Joanne Ago. NHFGC Flower Show: WGC will make 6 centerpieces for the Judges Luncheon, and will help with food purchased by the Federation. Cheryl Wainwright is in charge of award ribbons. Open for new helpers if you want to come on board now for the August State Show.

V. OPEN TO THE FLOOR STANDING COMMITTEES:
CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE – Gardens were planted on May 13th and “Plant It Pink” pictures were taken at the library.
Floral Design – April Shows Art In Bloom at Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Jerry Parsons and Su Bennet, “Barnyard Fowl with Peacocks” by Melchior d’Hondecoeter Petals to Paint, at East Colony Fine Arts in Manchester, NH, Robin Heider and Gail Salcito, “Bowl of Cherries” by Richard Bergstrom, one of the Top 4 of People’s Choice. CONGRATULATIONS to both teams!
Garden Tour – A tour was held on May 15th at Harry and Ann Burnham’s garden. Ten people attended. A thank-you note and $25 gift certificate to “The Chatterbox Café” was given in appreciation.
JR GARDEN CLUB – Mother’s Day Plant Sale on May 8th raised $435.00 for plants and $130.00 for raffle tickets. Winners will be drawn on May 22nd at the WGC Plant Sale. Sunflower seeds will be handed out at the sale for a kid’s contest to see who can grow the tallest sunflower! Good Luck!
MEMBERSHIP – Su Bennett, dues are due. WGC is donating a strawberry planter to the Strawberry Festival being held June 5th. The club will display membership brochures.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE – Grace Marad and committee have chosen the 2 recipients, both are Windham residents.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:
ANNIVESARY PARTY COMMITTEE – save this date, Sat., Sept. 18, 2010, at Jerry Parson’s house. Invitations will be given at the Solstice Meeting. Let Bea Heinze or Joanne Ago know if you locate any former members. More duties to be assigned at the June meeting.
MEMBERS INFO TO SHARE: Denise Sarnie said the Recycled Birdhouses on display at the library received great comments!
