WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

March 15, 2007
  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin.

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    1st Vice-Pres Josie Cappiello

    2nd Vice-Pres Rhonda Peckham

    Secretary Su Bennett

    Jr Garden Club

    President Kathryn Martin

    The Officer excused was Jean Manthorne, Treasurer

    There were no guests or new members at this meeting.

     

  2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

     

  3. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS

    1st VICE PRESIDENT:

    - UNH: Greenhouse Open House-Mar 30-31 – free; Mar 31 Spring Symposium –has admission fee

    - April Mtg is Liz Barbour – need headcount, so let Josie know

    - Wed, Mar 21 7pm- Shady Hill Greenhouse + Nursery Tour – meet there

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT:

    - Rhonda sent in Yearbook for NHFGC judging

    - Submitted addresses in Yearbook for Lilac Letter Distribution list

    TREASURER: Financial Statements not posted-will be available next meeting

    SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the website + on the bulletin board

    PRESIDENT:

    - Election of Officers – see Linda German if interested or have a nomination

    - Nominations for Awards – passed out form - please let Jill know of any nominations

    - NHFGC 74th Annual Mtg – Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Eagle Mountain House, Jackson, NH

     

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR

        PLANT SALE – UPDATE – Lisa Errede + Jill Martin

                    - Sign up sheet for any plant you want dug from your garden

                    - NEW: a special Kid’s Table run by the Jr Garden Club


PLANT SALE SIGN – Holly Hanford

- Showed Club a sample + some proposed designs


PLANT SALE RAFFLE – Linda German

                    - NEED DONATIONS

- also need donations for the famous Large Container of Gardening Goodies

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE – Grace Marad

                       - will have a report in April

        HORTICULTURE COMMITTEE – Cookie Santerre

                       - Josie + Jill have volunteered to co-chair this committee next year

   - Container Workshop, Sun, Jun 3, 2pm in Josie’s driveway

   -new this year- for $15 – a minimum of 3 Proven Winners plus other plants will be
    provided

   - Seacoast Elements of Floral Design Classes – per Cookie- very worthwhile-sign
    up asap, though

DAFFODIL DAYS – Joanne Ago

            - selling to the public Sat, Mar 24 at Transfer Station, Village Bean, and Howie
            Glynn’s

        - need help on Tuesday at Joanne’s to divide up the bunches that local
        businesses have ordered

NEW ENGLAND FLOWER SHOW -

        - is next week

ELECTION OF OFFICERS for Fall 2007 through Summer 2009 -

        - see Linda German

ANNUAL AWARDS PRESENTED AT SUMMER SOLSTICE -

        - see Jill Martin

ARTHUR BAKER COMMUNITY AWARD -

        - will be presented at the Selectman’s Meeting the Monday before the Plant Sale

AUDUBON MAPLE MANIA – Holly Hanford
    • Pancake Breakfast + Maple Sugar Tour- Mar 24-25, Massabesic, need to pre-register
