WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

January 21, 2010

 

I.      WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by Past President Jill Martin

The Officers present were

               President

The Officers excused were, Bea Heinze, Jean Manthorne

V.    OPEN TO THE FLOOR

STANDING COMMITTEES:

 

CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE – Cheri Maw will be hosting a tea at her house on Friday, Jan. 22 at 9am for all interested club members and the Windham Endowment to discuss fundraising for a greenhouse at  Windham High School.

 

            -

CONSERVATION COMMITTEE – Siri Wilbur informed members about a snowshoeing event at the Audubon Center and discussed having another Feb. 6th at Stonehedge in North Salem.  Also the categories and guidelines for the Bird House Contest are posted on WGC website.

 

 

MEMBERSHIP – Su Bennett asked members for any corrections needed for the yearbook to keep master copy up to date for next year.

 

           

 

PUBLICITY COMMITTEE –  Victor & Glenice Harmon, Denise Sarnie worked very hard and completed the Publicity Book and it was sent out before the Jan. 25th deadline for state judging.

 

 

 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:

 

ANNIVESARY PARTY COMMITTEE – Su Bennett asked for members help on confirming past members addresses, so that invitations could be sent.  She had several sheets of addresses to be researched.

 

 

ART in BLOOM – Jerry Parsons and Su Bennett will be representing WGC at Art in Bloom – Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA on April 24-25-26,2010.

 

 

FIELD TRIPS – Possibility of group trip to Boston Flower Show in March.  There are discount tickets for groups of 15 or more.

 

 

NH FLOWER SHOW – NHFGC Flower Show Committee met in Dec., attendees were Evie Saad, Jerry Parsons, Cheryl Wainwright, Su Bennett and Bea Heinze.  The theme is “This Place is a Zoo”, and the Windham Design Exhibits will be jelly fish and hippopotamus.  They have requested to work on Horticulture but the tasks have not been assigned yet.  The state show will take place on Aug. 19-20-21, 2010 in Concord, NH.  Anyone else who would like to join please contact a committee member.

 

Boston Flower Show – Sponsored by the Garden Club Federation of MA, is still available for an entry from our club.  The show is March 24-29, 2010 at the World Trade Center.

VI.   BREAK and REFRESHMENTS - HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

THIS MONTH’S THEME – Winter Beauty, Birch logs with winter branches attached adorned the table for a beautiful winter scape!
