WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

January 17, 2008

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    1st Vice-Pres Denise Sarnie - Programs

    2nd Vice-Pres Julia Salafia - Yearbook + Website

    Rhonda Peckham - Membership

    Treasurer Jean Manthorne

    Secretary Su Bennett

    The following people were welcomed:

    - Pam Friend guest of Rosemary Pothier and Lee Bushey guest of Robin Heider

    1st VICE PRESIDENT-PROGRAMS:

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT- YEARBOOK + WEBSITE:

    - If you have some nifty pictures for the website, PLEASE send them to Julia

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT - MEMBERSHIP:

    New Members: Deborah MacMillan and fiancé Romeo Danais

    Returning Members: Evie Saad + Vicki Spicher

    TREASURER: Financial Statements posted

    SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the WGC website + on the bulletin board

    PRESIDENT:

    - 17th Annual Orchid Show – Feb 8-10 at the Radisson in Nashua

    - NHFGC Semi-Annual Meeting – Sept 24, 2008 at C R Sparks in Bedford

    District IV is responsible for the meeting - theme: September Song

    We have been asked to create the centerpieces -let Jill know if you are interested in helping

    - NHFGC Events posted on the bulletin board during the meeting

    - Deadline to get date of our Plant Sale into Lilac Letter is March 7

    - Chakarian Farms will give WGC members a discount,

    If you don’t want Denise to include your name on the list, please let her know

     

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR

    STANDING COMMITTEES:

    JR GARDEN CLUB – info from Denise Sarnie

    - Cassandra Salafia planted the first seeds for the Plant Sale

    - Shirlee took pictures + they will be posted on the WGC website in the new Jr Garden Club section

    PLANT SALE COMMITTEE – info from Jill

    - Do you have anything in your garden that needs dividing?

    - Per Shirlee, we need lots of varieties of plants this year – but no more than 20 of any plant !

    - It will be held at the Town Hall Parking Lot - May 17 has been reserved + confirmed

    - Will probably need 40-60 tables

    SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:

    ART in BLOOM - info from Denise Sarnie

    - Art in Bloom is April 26; 60 Garden Clubs will be participating

    CLUB HISTORY – Sam Dubreuil

    - Meetings will be held at Sam’s home to complete the scrapbook/Club History

    - Jan 23 is next meeting - watch for emails for future dates + times

    NEW ENGLAND FLOWER SHOW - info from Denise Sarnie

    - March 8-16

    - An email was sent out with details about a bus trip organized by the Derry Garden Club

    NHFGC "PLANT NATIVES for BIRDS + BUTTERFLIES" PROJECT – Bea Heinze, Chairperson

    - Info is on our website – check it out

    - Need members to help Bea with this project

    PETALS 2 PAINT –

    - Joan Szoke, Cookie Santerre, + Robin Heider will be participating

    - April 19-20 in Manchester, will be fun to attend + see what they create
