WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

February 15, 2007

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin.

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    1st Vice-Pres Josie Cappiello

    2nd Vice-Pres Rhonda Peckham

    Secretary Su Bennett

    Jr Garden Club

    President Kathryn Martin

    The Officer excused was Jean Manthorne, Treasurer

    The following people were welcomed:

    - new members Diane Howard + Jr Garden Club, Andrea Howard

  3. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS + COMMUNICATIONS

    1st VICE PRESIDENT:

    April Mtg – Liz Barbour- Cooking from your Garden

    Members + guests ($3) need to sign up if planning to attend

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT:

    Welcomed new members

    TREASURER: Financial Statements posted

    SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the website + on the bulletin board

    PRESIDENT:

    A big thank you to the members who helped judge the Publicity Books for NHFGC-

    Roni, Linda G, Jill, and Su

    NHFGC-

    NHFGC Pins are now available for $10 through NHFGC website + Jill has the form, too

    74th Annual Meeting-May 30, Jackson, NH- application on NHFGC website

     

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR + INFO FROM PRESIDENT

    PLANT SALE – UPDATE – Lisa Errede + Jill Martin

    - Holly will bring in examples + prices of signs with changeable dates

    - There will be a dig at Tiffany Gardens in the spring- Kathy McMahon is donating to our Plant Sale

     

    HORTICULTURE COMMITTEE – Josie

    - Hostas- member, Cheryl Cravino has over 200 varieties, 50 are for sale-

    - sharing table- please take some of the magazines, books or catalogs

    CLUB HISTORY - Used to be known as the Scrapbook

    - meeting Tues, Feb 20 at 6:45pm – call Jill for location

    NANCY SURETTE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE – Grace Marad

    - 85 letters were sent out to various schools

    - deadline for application is march 30

    DAFFODIL DAYS – Joanne Ago

    - this year, Sun, Mar 18, the daffodils will be wrapped for everyone at Great Beverages, Hooksett

    - plan is 775 boxes or 38,000 bunches to be wrapped for distribution week of Mar 19-24

    - we will sell them at the usual places on Sat, Mar 24 - sign up at March Meeting

    ART in BLOOM – Denise Sarni

    - the application has been faxed + we are on the waiting list

    ELECTION OF OFFICERS for Fall 2007 through Summer 2009 -

    - let Linda German or Kim Cummings know if you have any suggestions or would like to volunteer

    ANNUAL AWARDS PRESENTED AT SUMMER SOLSTICE -

    - give names of people you would like to nominate to Jill

    WGC WEBSITE -

    - send any pics to Julia for her to post on our website, eg the ice storm, club events, or your garden

    WGC YEARBOOK –

    - suggestion by Deb Caveney, let’s have a competition for the picture on next year’s yearbook cover

    PURCHASE OF A DIGITAL CAMERA FOR CLUB USE –

    - motion by Robin to have Sam purchase a good camera

    - seconded by by Joanne

    - all in favor – motion carried
