WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

April 19, 2007

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin.

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    1st Vice-Pres Josie Cappiello

    2nd Vice-Pres Rhonda Peckham

    Secretary Su Bennett

    The Officer excused was Jean Manthorne, Treasurer

    The following people were welcomed:

    - Jill Dunn, Dracut, MA Garden Club, Diane Winter, and Roberta Kosek all guests of Rhonda Peckham

  3. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS

    1st VICE PRESIDENT:

    Pot Recycling Day is June 9 – PLEASE sign up

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT:

    TREASURER: Financial Statements posted

    SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the website + on the bulletin board

    PRESIDENT:

    Plant Sale sign-up sheets – Please sign up or Jill will assign you a duty

    Plant Sale signs were shown and they are great. Thank you, Holly, for doing this

    Jr Garden Club for Grades 1-12; there is now info on our WGC website and there will be an article

    in the local papers

    Reminder: NHFGC Annual Meeting is May 30

    Has Handouts from other Garden Clubs for their upcoming events, also listed in Lilac letter

    WGC Summer Solstice Meeting and Gourmet Pot Luck, June 21

    Annual Awards – please let Jill know your nominations

    Officers for Fall 2007-Summer 2009 will be voted on

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR

    PLANT SALE – UPDATE – Jill Martin

    - Sign up sheets will be available at the May meeting, also

    ARTHUR BAKER COMMUNITY GRANT – Linda German

    - Will be awarded at the May 14th Selectman’s Meeting

    SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE – Grace Marad

    - There were only had 3 applications this year for the 2 scholarships

    DAFFODIL DAYS – Joanne Ago

    - Windham Garden Club has been doing Daffodil Days for 13 years

    - We delivered/sold $5,129 of Bears + Flowers this year

    - this included Salem which had no coordinator, so Joanne volunteered

    - Thank you, Joanne, for a job well done and another successful year

    ELECTION OF OFFICERS for Fall 2007 through Summer 2009 – Linda German

    - Let Linda know of any nominations

    - The slate will be presented at the May Meeting

    - The officers will be voted on at the Summer Solstice June Meeting

    RAFFLE – Linda German

    - Great prizes described by Linda

    - Sell those tickets and see Linda for more!!!!

     

  5. REFRESHMENTS and BREAK

    Many thanks to Joanne Parent and Cheri Maw – everything was delicious.

  6. PROGRAM

"Cooking and Gardening with Herbs"

Slides and cooking demo by Liz Barbour with the help of Marybeth Marien, both from the Hollis Garden Club
