WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING Sept. 17, 2009
I. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Bea Heinze The Officers present were President Jill Martin 1st Vice-Pres Denise Sarnie - Programs 2nd Vice-Pres Julia Salafia - Yearbook + Website Secretary Su Bennett
The Officer excused was Jean Manthorne, Treasurer
The following people were welcomed: - New member – Rejoining the club Kim Cummings - Margaret Sinclair joined the club after talking with Bea at the Pot Recycle Day in June 2009. Credentials- Members in attendance: 31 Total membership: 49% Guests: 0

III. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS
1st VICE PRESIDENT-PROGRAMS: Denise Sarnie had sign-up sheets for November’s meeting craft and January’s meeting spring bulb planter project.
2ND VICE PRESIDENT- YEARBOOK + WEBSITE: Julia Salafia handed out the new 09-10 Yearbooks; the book’s theme is “Our Town, Our Home”. Bea Heinz expressed many thanks to Julia Salafia, Holly Hanford Oliver, Su Bennett, Denise Sarnie, Robin Heider, and Ruth Bellizzi.

SECRETARY: Prior meeting Minutes posted on the WGC website + on the bulletin board
PRESIDENT: 1. Linda German broke her hip on 9/16/09; a humorous get-well card was available for members to sign and flowers were sent. 2. All Board Meeting, Nesmith Library, Thursday Oct. 1st, at 6:45pm. Inviting all other members who wish to be part of the 20th Anniversary Party Plans. 3. Boston Flower Show for amateurs will be held at the World Trade Center on March 24-29, 2010.
IV. MOTIONS MOTION: The club won a $100 Lake St. Gardens Gift Certificate, a motion was made by Bea Heinze to use it at the annual Plant Sale. MOVED: Grace Marad SECONDED: Ronnie Hewitt IN FAVOR: unanimous OPPOSED: none CARRIED
V. OPEN TO THE FLOOR STANDING COMMITTEES: CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE – Members dug up the traffic island and moved plants to new garden at the Transfer Center. “Plant It Pink” was started at Nesmith library, to be completed for Spring 2010. - CONSERVATION COMMITTEE – Siri Wilbur has done 2 of 6 Conservation Trail Walks. The next one is planned for Tuesday 9/22/09 at Landry Trail at 9:30am, the public is invited. -
HORTICULTURE COMMITTEE – Josie Cappiello + Jill Martin Workshops were held in September at Shirlee Dallas’s home. Scarecrows and Flower Pot Art were created. Shirlee made a Scarecrow for WGC to donate to Manchester Animal Shelter Silent Auction. Floral Designs – Jerry Parsons won a White Ribbon at the Frost Flower Show. -
MEMBERSHIP – Su Bennett, WGC has a new membership brochure and will set-up a table at Autumn Fest at Griffin Park on 10/17/09.
PLANT SALE COMMITTEE – Perennial digs set for Sat. 9/19/09 at 9am at Ronnie Hewitt’s and Friday 9/25/09 at 9:30am at Holly Hanford Oliver’s, contact Shirlee Dallas for additional details. - SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE – Grace Marad, scholarship winner John Burke sent a thank-you letter; it was posted on bulletin board at the meeting. -
SPECIAL COMMITTEES/EVENTS:
News from the State- Jill Martin, NHFGC Chairperson, “The National Essay Contest” the theme this year is “Respect the World Around Us” it is open to all high school students.
FUND RAISER: GIFT WRAP – Jill Martin Bring Innsbrook Fundraiser orders to the October meeting. -
