WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

September 15, 2005

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall.

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    1st Vice-Pres Josie Cappiello

    2nd Vice-Pres Rhonda Peckham

    Treasurer Jean Manthorne

    Secretary Su Bennett

    Three guests were welcomed – Beatrice Heinze, Barbara Muscatel, and Linda Smigliani.

  3. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS

    1st VICE PRESIDENT:

    Announced Programs for next meetings

    October – Putting Your Garden to Bed

    November – Long + Low Centerpiece

    January – Cutting Garden + Horticulture Committee Presentation on New Varieties of Old Plants

    2ND VICE PRESIDENT:

    Announced we have approximately 50 members and there is a Membership form on the WGC website.

    TREASURER:

    Presented a Proposed Budget which included the last 2 years actual expenditures for comparison.

    MOTION by Nicole Nichols

    Scholarship- increase to 2 scholarships at $ 2,000 each

    SECRETARY:

    Announced plan to post Minutes to the WGC Meetings on the website.

    PRESIDENT:

    Sign up for one or more of our numerous committees – a responsibility of being a member

    NHFGC Semi-Annual Meeting will be Sept 21 in Grantham, NH

     

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR

    Linda German – Community Investment Program

    MOTION-to name it The Arthur Baker Community Investment Grant

    Lisa Errede – Civic Committee

    Thanked everyone who helped watering, weeding, etc during the summer months

    Deb Caveney/Lisa Errede – Plant Sale, Dig Organization

    Will discuss this at October meeting

    Cookie Santerre / Shirlee Dallas – Horticulture Committee

    Need 5 people to finish up at the Library on Tuesday at 9am

    Next Mtg – Sept 22 at 7 pm Topic: Perennials + planning for the presentation at the January meeting

    Cheryl Wainwright – Upcoming Fundraiser

    Our annual high quality wrapping paper fund raiser; order + pay at October meeting for delivery at November meeting

    Shirlee Dallas – Bulb order

    The bulb order is in, call Shirlee to schedule pick up

    Cookie Santerre – Art in Bloom, New England Flower Show

    Jill will obtain applications – anyone interested in doing these ??
