WINDHAM GARDEN CLUB

MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

October 20, 2005

  1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

    The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Windham Town Hall by President Jill Martin.

    The Officers present were

    President Jill Martin

    2nd Vice-Pres Rhonda Peckham

    Treasurer Jean Manthorne

    Secretary Su Bennett

    The Officer excused was

    1st Vice-Pres Josie Cappiello

    The following people were welcomed:

    Ray Loszewski – new member

    1st VICE PRESIDENT:

    Announced that our yearbook will be distributed at the November meeting.

    TREASURER:

    Distributed copies of Amended Budget Proposal 2005-2006

    Motion by Nicole Nichols to increase the 2 scholarships to $2,000 each

    Moved by Deb Caveney

    Amended Budget Proposal 2005-2006 was accepted as revised by all present

    SECRETARY:

    Minutes to September 2005 Meeting were posted

    Two Videos – English Gardens and Caribbean – whoever has them, please bring to the next meeting

    PRESIDENT:

    Great article on past President Bill Wallace in October 14 issue of the Lawrence Eagle Tribune

    Searles School Community Grant 2005– work is finished

    Art in Bloom Application – volunteers ?

    Set of Reference Books left on the Sharing Table – see Cookie to borrow

    Historical Society Presentation – Windham Musings – Wed, Nov 2 at 7pm at the Searles School
     

  4. OPEN TO THE FLOOR

    Horticulture Committee-Next Mtg is Nov 10 at Josie’s; bring plant research info for January presentation

    Gift Wrap Orders – deadline for ordering is the end of this meeting; orders will be delivered at Nov Mtg

    Fall Digs/Spring Digs- Lisa Errede or Deb Caveney-

    60-70% of Plant Sale plants come from members gardens

    If you have plants you want dug, either this Fall or next Spring, sign up tonight or contact Lisa or Deb

    Neck Cooler/"Tie"- made by Deb C using soil moist

    wants feedback if she should make some to sell at Plant Sale

    Article on Moss as alternative to a lawn – copies made + shared by Linda German

    Putting to bed Bartley House, Town Hall + Gazebo-Denise + Lisa- Fri, Oct 21- join them if you can

    MSPCA in Methuen will loan Have-a-Heart traps

     

  6. REFRESHMENTS and BREAK

    Many thanks to the Hospitality Committee for the yummy refreshments and a table set with a beautiful Autumn colors and large pumpkin. Also the Welcome sign at the Sign In table was a nice touch

"Putting Your Garden to Bed" by Annette Rynearson of Uncanoonuc Mountain Perennials Nursery

Members learned a lot and enjoyed this presentation.
